Dogshaming? Really, Tumblr?
I came back from a truly hilarious experience, watching “The Campaign”… I can’t tell you how much I laughed… to see a “dog shaming tumblr” photo posted on the radar.
You know, I get that it’s trying to be sarcastic towards the whole slut shaming or any other kind of shaming tactics, but it’s just wrong… and cruel, because the motivation of some of these people is not a joke. Even worse, some of the language they’re using towards their furry / hairy child(ren) is remarkably borderline verbally abusive, and I’d act out if I was treated in such a manner.
And, I’m sorry, but some of those things are natural: a dog eating poop, means that the animal thinks it is living in a filthy environment, and therefore it must clean it. If you put food in a reachable location, of course a dog is going to eat it. Dogs are the same age and mentality as a human toddler - if you don’t respect them or treat them with the kindness you would a human child, you don’t deserve my respect…. and SHAME ON YOU, TUMBLR for highlighting such a blog. While I agree Tommypom’s post is hilarious, the others border on animal cruelty - and certainly call into question exactly how responsible many of the “owner” / “parents” of these animals are.
When you get right down to it, if you can’t handle the responsibility, the shame should be on YOU, not the hairy / furry child.
