Today, the AFL-CIO honours the Helmets to Hardhats program in NYC, where military veterans are helping to rebuild the Trade Center as union members.

Houston Area 4th of July Events

I cannot believe that in a drought as bad as we’re having, they’re actually still going to have fireworks in some communities… 

…So, I’m thinking I might bake some cookies to take to some firehouses in the city.  I feel badly for the firefighters this year… This will be one difficult weekend for them.
