She aged a good five years in the span of a few months.  Grief just ages you.

Excerpt from: Ten Vintage Watches That Should Be More Expensive Than They Are, And Why

From 1910 to 1960, Cartier made less than 100 tanks per year (all were mechanical, of course).  By 1969, they were making about 800 per year - still not very many.  And the beautiful thing about vintage Tanks is that you of find them with all sorts of awesome movements in them, like those from Piaget, and even Audemars Piguet (as pictured above).  So, you get a watch that is one of the most important designs from the best design house of the 20th century with a seriously mean, manually-wound movement in it - and you can expect to pay under $10,000 in most cases.

This is the only watch I want.  What the original source does not mention is that the spike in production in the 1960s was likely caused by Jackie Kennedy.  This was her signature watch, evidenced in the photo above.

Vanity Fair wrote a piece on it a few years ago.

James Marsden as John F. Kennedy! Minka Kelly as Jackie! The Butler is full of famous faces playing famous presidents. Who do you think was accurately cast?

Hmm though I like James Marsden, I wish Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes could play them again since they portrayed them so well in the miniseries but what actor wants to play the same people over again? (Hugh Jackman ;] ) But who knows, maybe they’ll be great!(:

hmm. hmmm. hmm.
I am undecided…
I really liked Katie Holmes and Greg Kinnear…
I’m just really really picky on who plays Jackie like they have to have the voice down or they can just gtfo

I like Minka.  I hope she’ll do Jackie justice, and she’s a better actress than Katie Holmes.
Jill Hennessy has so far been my favourite “Jackie”, in Jackie, Ethel, Joan: The Women of Camelot.  Available on Hulu.

just best friends

JUST BEST FRIENDS

I wouldn’t say best friends, I’d just say extremely close.  I don’t think they had an affair as has been alleged, I just think that they were the only two people who understood each other’s grief.  You witness your husband’s murder when he’s sitting beside you and that’s got to cause a lot of pain that she never fully showed the world.  I think they could just turn to each other.

Bobby’s death must have just shattered whatever remained of her after Jack’s assassination.  I still wonder if he hadn’t been killed, if she would have gone through with the marriage to Aristotle.

“I couldn’t believe she was gone. I always expected I’d be dead long before her. God knows I should have been. I never imagined what it would feel like to no longer have her in the world. Hardly a week has gone by without a photo of her in some magazine, some tabloid — the kinds she always used to have me buy so she could see what was being said about her. And every time I saw a paparazzi-snapped picture, I knew exactly what she was thinking in every shot. I could see it in her eyes. There were no secrets from me in those eyes.We had gone through so much together, Mrs. Kennedy and me.I sat there, staring at the television set, the images of her playing over and over, my memories right there on the screen. I was overcome with a deep sense of loss. The tears streamed down my face, and I was not ashamed.”- Clint Hill, Jackie Kennedy’s Secret Service Agent

I think that my biggest achievement is that after going through a rather difficult time, I consider myself comparatively sane.
