Jackie was often worried about how her cultured, sophisticated image would affect JFK’s campaign and popularity with the public, and she would tell him, “Oh, Jack, I’m so sorry for you that I’m such a dud,” but he would reply,“I love you as you are.”
Favorite.

“I loved you from the first day I saw you and if I hadn’t married you my life would have been tragic because the definition of tragedy is a waste . But ten years later, I love you so much more.”

President Kennedy wears a bandage to cover a cut he received when he banged his head on a table picking up a toy for daughter Caroline. Circa 1961.

I’ve never really understood the meaning of Presidents’ Day. Is it Lincoln’s birthday? Or Washington’s birthday? Are we supposed to just congratulate these men for a job well done, even when they all haven’t always done a good job? In any case, I’m not going to complain about a day off. I’m also going to take this day as an excuse to look at some glamorous photos of one of my favorite Democrats, President John F. Kennedy.
Enjoy, and Happy Presidents’ Day!
This is my favourite photo of the couple… because they’re in Newport, where Hammersmith Farm was (where Jackie spent a lot of her childhood after her mother married Uncle Hughdie), watching the regatta.
But there’s just something about this photo of the two of them… that I can’t quite explain…

50 years ago, John F. Kennedy visited Vanderbilt University (my school) to celebrate its 90th convocation. My grandmother was there to see him, as was my 5-year old mother. This article contains several rare photos of JFK.
The fact that my family was present for this historic event gives me goosebumps. If only I were alive then to see Jack Kennedy in person. Then again, if that were the case, I’d be really old.
