New Rule

newsweek:

You pin, we unfollow.

So, by your own philosophy, all of your followers should unfollow you?

This is a great marketing strategy, btw, of an organization that is already facing financial hardship in an industry that is struggling.

By all means, amend your rule that EXCESSIVE “pin”ning will be met with an unfollow, for those that abuse the privlege, but those that do “pin”, have so far done so only when the felt they post they were using it with was merited.  Either that, or you need to revise who you do actually follow and get rid of the non-quality tumblrs that you are following.

Apparently, you’re getting upset over something as ridiculous as pinned posts in Tumblr, that you can easily remove with the click of a button.  It must be nice that this is all you have to worry about in the world.

So tempted to unfollow this tumblr, because I am now questioning what value Newsweek does bring to me, especially on Tumblr and especially now.

Way to go marketing geniuses, way to go.

newsweek:

Here’s this week’s cover, on newsstands and the iPad tomorrow morning. And the summary of the corresponding story:

In an age where women are dominating - in the workplace, at school, at home - why are they seeking to be dominated in their love lives? Recent media portrayals have shown that a rising number of modern women fantasize about being overpowered, while studies are turning out statistics that bewilder feminists. New shows like HBO’s Girls and books like Fifty Shades of Grey are showcasing the often hidden desire for powerlessness. But why? Katie Roiphe examines the submissive yet empowered female in Newsweek. “It is perhaps inconvenient for feminism that the erotic imagination does not submit to politics, or even changing demographics,” she writes.

We haven’t seen the cover story yet, but color us intrigued! Let’s hear your pre-thoughts, tumblr.

In fact, if I were a member of the Christian right, sitting on my front porch decrying the decadent morals of working American women, what would be most alarming about the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomena, what gives it its true edge of desperation, and end-of-the-world ambience, is that millions of otherwise intelligent women are willing to tolerate prose on this level. If you are willing to slog through sentences like “In spite of my poignant sadness, I laugh,” or “My world is crumbling around me into a sterile pile of ashes, all my hopes and dreams cruelly dashed,” you must really, really, want to get to the submissive sex scene.

from Newsweek’s “Spanking Goes Mainstream“… and yet another reason to loathe “Twilight”, as it gave birth to another trilogy, whose grammar and use of the English language send a collective groan around those of us who know where to find better written fiction with the same, if not better, content that is not getting even a tenth of the attention as this ridiculous work of fan fiction.
