Houston-based conservative group, True the Vote, filed suit against the Internal Revenue Service this morning in federal court in Washington D.C.
The group’s court papers seek a declaration that the group qualifies for tax-exempt non-profit status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, saying that the IRS had improperly delayed a determination decision for nearly three years.
The group also contends that the additional review accorded its application by the IRS violated the First Amendment and asked the court to declare the IRS’ policy unconstitutional.
Last but not least, the complaint also seeks damages for what the group said were unauthorized inspection of its private information by IRS employees as well as damages caused by the delay in receiving a determination of exempt status.

Last year, a sister organization, King Street Patriots - also started by True the Vote founder, Catherine Engelbrecht - was found to be a PAC rather than a non-profit for purposes of Texas campaign finance law.
True the Vote is an absolute boil on the butt of humanity and there is a special level of hell for anyone affiliated with this group.
Among other things they like to do, they enjoy intimidating people of color from even going into their polling place and, have been known to illegally stand and watch as these people who were not intimidated, vote.
There’s no way True the Vote is a non-profit organization…

The Texas House will take up a proposed constitutional amendment on May 15 that would limit statewide officeholders (other than judges) to two consecutive terms starting with terms elected in 2014.
The Texas Senate passed the amendment 27-4 in a vote in March, and the proposed amendment cleared the House state affairs committee unanimously in April.
If the full house approves next week, the amendment would go to Texas voters in November.
The proposed amendment is SJR 13.
In other words, everyone is tired of Rick Perry’s nonsense.

Even though they’re just local municipalities and school board elections, apparently, I’m being sucked in, to an extent… SO, I anticipate being an incredibly busy girl the next week or so. (Election Day is on Saturday, May 11th and then, Houston Municipal Elections and other Board of Trustee Elections begin for November’s General Election.)
