Jackie was often worried about how her cultured, sophisticated image would affect JFK’s campaign and popularity with the public, and she would tell him, “Oh, Jack, I’m so sorry for you that I’m such a dud,” but he would reply,“I love you as you are.”
Favorite.

I’ve never really understood the meaning of Presidents’ Day. Is it Lincoln’s birthday? Or Washington’s birthday? Are we supposed to just congratulate these men for a job well done, even when they all haven’t always done a good job? In any case, I’m not going to complain about a day off. I’m also going to take this day as an excuse to look at some glamorous photos of one of my favorite Democrats, President John F. Kennedy.
Enjoy, and Happy Presidents’ Day!
This is my favourite photo of the couple… because they’re in Newport, where Hammersmith Farm was (where Jackie spent a lot of her childhood after her mother married Uncle Hughdie), watching the regatta.
But there’s just something about this photo of the two of them… that I can’t quite explain…

On this day in 1961, John F. Kennedy became the first President to hold a live televised news conference
