white person: *has a low GPA, no extracurricular activities, and a poorly written essay*
white person: i didn’t get into this university bc im white
Even worse - it’s called a 10 percent rule, where if you’re in the top 10 percent in your class, you’re automatically accepted to a state college in Texas. AUTOMATICALLY. All she had to do was keep her grades up in high level courses and she would have been a shoe in, but… they discriminated against her because she’s “white”…

Even more? All she had to do to literally get in with her grades? Go to a community college for her first year, then transfer in. The first year of UT is rough, anywa,y and half flunk out because of the mandatory English courses…
It’s embarrassing that it’s gotten all the way to the SCOTUS… because when you consider the state of education in Texas, it’s honestly the most fair law in place right now (and one I couldn’t benefit from, as it was enacted well after I was applying) and honestly, it’s kind of even more embarrassing that she wanted to be a Longhorn. With that attitude, I’m glad that she was denied admission. She doesn’t deserve to be burnt orange.

The Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg “can project the daunting stillness of a seated monarch,” Jeffrey Toobin writes in his Profile of Ginsburg this week. “She is tiny—about five feet tall and a hundred pounds—and her face at rest conveys a pursed-lipped skepticism. She dresses with a dowager’s elegance, often in exotic shifts acquired on her travels around the world; she sometimes wears long gloves indoors.” A groundbreaking litigator for women’s rights before being appointed to the bench, Ginsburg has worn many aspects in her eighty years. Here are photographs of Ginsburg as a girl in Brooklyn, as a law graduate who left Columbia as co-valedictorian (but with no job offers), as a young mother, and as an advocate whose greatest legacy, Toobin argues, may be in the cases that she argued before what was then an all-male Supreme Court—and won.
