I assume the timing of Wendy Davis’s announcement was planned to coincide with third quarter fundraising earnings which are reported on the 1st and become public shortly thereafter, because of the big question of how much she’ll have on hand to run for Governor. I assume this, just based on the business and the question of whether or not she could be a contender and since $80,000 is a strange goal, I’m wondering if the campaign is at or near a $1.5 million (or greater) war chest to give naysayers some serious shade. Just knowing she
However, as I was on my way home just a few moments ago, I am ashamed to admit the thought finally dawned on me. Cruz’s fauxlibuster and its reception as well as this government shut down? It’s like… they’re just accepting the inevitable and giving Wendy a win without really trying.

“We’re in court today to stop a terrible situation for women in Texas from getting even worse. Politicians are interfering with the personal medical decisions of women who already have the least access to birth control and preventive health care. If this law goes into effect, there is no doubt it will end access to safe and legal abortion for many women, leaving some to resort to desperate and dangerous measures. We won’t let that happen.”

Any Democrat running for the governor’s mansion in Texas starts out at a disadvantage. But Davis has overcome long odds before.
Dear Texas GOP: Bring your A game. Bring.it.all.on. Because I don’t want any excuses or whining when you lose Texas because of a bunch of girls.

“You can imagine my great shock when I read the newspaper this morning and learned that you dismissed the work of the VAMI committee…I can only hope that your comments were taken out of context because, Governor Dewhurst, I can assure you that the work of the VAMI committee (Senate Committee on Veteran and Military Affairs) is important– as a veteran, you should now this. The VAMI committee serves over 1.7 million veterans living in our state and more than 1331,000 active-duty military service members. The committee I chair has worked hard to make Texas the number one state for military service members, veterans and their families by passing legislation that eases the transition of service members and their families to civilian life; strengthens Hazelwood high education benefits for veterans and their families; and addresses the high number of suicides by veterans and service members.”
As a Democrat in the state of Texas, I would understand if you attacked me personally at a Republican political debate. However, I take great exception with dismissing the work of the committee which I chair, particularly because the VAMI committee works hard to protect the men and women that defend your right to freely debate.””
- Leticia Van de Putte to David Dewhurst when he stated that though there were Democratic Committee Chairs in the Texas Senate, “not one of them is one of the critical committees.”
It’s about to get feisty in 2014. So glad I’m going to have great tickets to watch. :o)

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released documents related to its security concerns around the State Capitol on the last night of the abortion bill debate.
Finally. Only 1 business day late… how timely.

I’m not asking you to do this because Jessica Luther is an amazing person and you should do it to help her or because all the cool kids in Texas are doing it (or should be doing it). I’m asking you to do this, because personal stories are the only way we WILL turn Texas Blue and this is an amazing panel full of women who know their stuff with a discussion that needs to be held in March of 2014, when we will choose a new Governor in the state of Texas, as well as many other statewide offices, such as the Attorney General.
If the ability to choose what to do with your own body matters to you, vote.
