“Especially in recent months, Texas has – in many ways – been at the center of our national debate about voting rights issues,” Holder said. “Let me be clear: we will not allow political pretexts to disenfranchise American citizens of their most precious right.”‘”
- Attorney General Eric Holder, speaking at the NAACP Convention in Houston last week, in regards to Texas’s proposed Voter ID Law.
Governor Rick Perry has requested an apology from him, for using racially charged language to describe the Voter ID law as a “poll tax” during that speech.
Well, Governor Goodhair, once you apologize to Texans for all of your politically charged talk of secession and your refusal to accept federal funds for the ACA and apologize to the 140,000 women because you defunded the Texas Women’s Health Program, I’m sure The Honourable Mr. Holder will see what he can do.
P.S. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, you can call it a Voter ID law all you want, but let’s call it what it really is: a poll tax.
