ICYMI: white women are attacking Jessica Williams on Twitter for saying she doesn’t want to succeed Jon Stewart’s run on the Daily Show, citing Sheryl Sandberg and Lena Dunham as models of confidence that Williams should emulate.
Epitome of White Feminism
I mean.. hell, I want her to, but if she don’t want to, she don’t want to. It’s that simple, respect that.
Personally, I think she is what is needed to breathe life into a real political movement, so I was disappointed when she said she wasn’t qualified for the position. However I disagreed with her assessment on a personal level and would never have even imagined telling someone that her own reasons for not wanting to helm the Daily Show were wrong. Women giving her flak for stating she wasn’t ready need to GTFO. Jessica Williams is precisely where she’s at because when she wanted something, she took a chance on it. No one handed her the spot on the Daily Show, she worked for it…
